PhytoCellTec™ Malus Domestica

PhytoCellTec ™ Malus Domestica is a liposomal active ingredient based on the stem cells of the Uttwiler Spätlauber Apple.


The Apple
The Uttwiler Spätlauber is an old, Swiss apple variety which is very rare today. It was known for its extraordinary shelf life, but because of its rather bitter taste was replaced more and more by sweet dessert apples. Since the apple kept so long without shrivelling or loosing too much aroma, it had to have special ingredients and particularly long-lasting stem cells. It was precisely these longevity factors that interested the researchers of Mibelle Biochemistry.

Plant stem cells for skin stem cells
With the development of the innovative PhytoCellTec ™ technology, it was possible to gain plant stem cells on a large scale. In addition, rare and endangered plant species such as the Uttwiler Spätlauber were sustainably cultivated. With PhytoCellTec ™, plant stem cells were made accessible to cosmetics for the first time.

The effect
In comprehensive studies, Mibelle Biochemistry has shown that PhytoCellTec ™ Malus Domestica, the active ingredient based on apple stem cells, promotes the vitality and life of the skin stem cells, protects them from environmental stress and thus prolongs the ageing of the skin.

PhytoCellTec ™ Malus Domestica offers completely new possibilities in cosmetics. With the use of plant stem cells, skin ageing can be delayed through the protection of vibrant skin stem cells. As a result, the skin remains young for a longer time and looks better and more vibrant.

Increasing the vitality of stem cells

The cell cultures with epidermal stem cells were treated with different concentrations of PhytoCellTec ™ Malus Domestica and their colony-forming efficiency was determined. It has been shown that PhytoCellTec ™ Malus Domestica clearly influences the stem cell characteristics. (see graphic)

Maintaining the ability to form new epidermal tissue

Young, vital epidermal stem cells can form a complete multilayer epidermis under laboratory conditions. If older stem cells are used in this experiment, no more multiplication of cells occurs and no epidermis is formed accordingly. These stem cells are exhausted and are at the end of their life cycle.

If, however, Malus Domestica stem cell extract is added during the cultivation of the stem cells, even "old" stem cells can still generate a complete epidermis. Under the influence of Malus Domestica stem cell extract, the epidermal stem cells retain their vitality longer and are able to form new tissue and regenerate the skin. (see graphic)

Anti-wrinkle effect

The anti-wrinkle effect of PhytoCellTec ™ Malus Domestica was investigated in a clinical study with 20 subjects (37 to 64 years). An emulsion containing 2% PhytoCellTec ™ Malus Domestica was applied to the crow's foot region for 28 days. The results showed a visible, significant reduction of the wrinkles in 100% of subjects.
