The Alpine rose
The Alpine rose is a typical Swiss flower from the Alpine region. With its colorful pink flowers, it decorates mountain slopes at heights of up to 3200 m. Their evergreen leaves are extremely resistant to the strong UV radiation and the extraordinary cold. Even when the snow melts in the spring, the leaves shine bright and green. Plant stem cells for skin stem cells
The researchers at Mibelle Biochemistry have researched the contents of the alpine rose for several years with its special protective substances and, above all, the water-storing dehydrin. With the help of the innovative technology PhytoCellTec ™ a formulation could be developed from the stem cells of the leaves which relieves dry and stressed skin and protects the skin stem cells demonstrably: PhytoCellTec ™ Alp Rose.

Protection of epidermal stem cells against UV stress
Cell cultures with epidermal stem cells were treated with PhytoCellTec ™ Alp Rose, others remained untreated. Thereafter, the cells were all exposed to UVA and UVB rays. After the experiment, the ability to divide (Colony-Forming Efficiency, CFE) of the stem cells was determined. The results showed that UV radiation severely affects the ability to divide the cells. Through the treatment with PhytoCellTec ™ Alp Rose, the division capacity (vitality) of the stem cells increased and also protected the stem cells against UV radiation (see graphic).
Ski holiday study
In order to test the effect of PhytoCellTec ™ Alp Rose under extreme environmental conditions, 22 volunteers were treated with a sun protection formulation with protection factor 30 during their ski runs (March, Alps). One facial half was treated with the sun cream without active ingredient, on the other side the formulation contained the active ingredient PhytoCellTec ™ Alp Rose. After a further treatment week at home the skin moisture loss of the facial skin was measured. The results showed that the water loss could be reduced by 39% after 2 weeks. This is an indication that PhytoCellTec ™ Alp Rose strengthens the skin barrier and is more resistant to environmental stress such as UV, wind, cold and dryness (see graphic).
